Gandhi Hospital set for inauguration

HYDERABAD : The Gandhi Hospital ’s new premises will be inaugurated by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on November 7.




The civil works of all blocks, except out-patient wing and emergency unit, have been completed, tourism minister T Srinivas Yadav, who visited the hospital on Wednesday, said.



The OP block and the emergency unit would be completed in two to three months.



So far over Rs 87 crore has been spent for the construction and an additional Rs 50 lakh would be spent on setting up an air-conditioned mortuary.



Also, Rs 20 crore have been set aside for any extra expenditure in the near future. Lawns will lend beauty to the hospital and some medicinal plants would also be grown on the premises.



The new hospital will have a paediatric research centre of the Naandi Foundation and a geriatrics section, Gandhi Hospital superintendent Dr A Chary said.



The hospital would also add an MRI facility for its array of medical equipment, he added. As the Gandhi Medical College and hostel for students would be housed on the premises, a 24-hour library,which will be ready in a few months, would an added advantage for students and academics, Gandhi Medical College principal Aruna said.
